Regulatory Information

How CompassSure works, the providers we feature, and the protections available to you.

Last updated: February 2026

CompassSure is a travel insurance comparison and information website. We help UK travellers find and compare travel insurance from trusted, FCA-regulated providers. This page explains our regulatory position and the protections available to you.

1. What CompassSure Does

CompassSure is an affiliate comparison website. We provide editorial content, guides, and comparison information to help you choose travel insurance. When you click through to a provider from our site, you leave CompassSure and deal directly with that provider.

We do not:

  • Arrange, sell, or administer insurance policies
  • Provide personalised financial advice or recommendations
  • Handle insurance claims or payments
  • Collect, store, or process any personal health, financial, or identity data

2. FCA Status

CompassSure does not require FCA authorisation because we do not carry out any regulated activities. We do not arrange, advise on, or sell insurance contracts.

All insurance providers featured on CompassSure are independently authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). You can verify any provider's registration on the FCA Register at register.fca.org.uk.

3. Your Insurance Contract

When you click through to a provider and purchase a policy, your contract is directly between you and that provider (and their underwriter). CompassSure is not a party to any insurance contract.

This means:

  • All quotes, policy terms, and pricing are set by the provider
  • Claims are handled entirely by the provider and their underwriter
  • Any complaints about your policy should be directed to the provider

4. FSCS Protection

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) protects customers of FCA-authorised firms. Since your insurance contract is with the provider (not CompassSure), any FSCS protection applies through them. For general insurance, the FSCS covers 90% of a claim with no upper limit.

For more about the FSCS, visit www.fscs.org.uk.

5. How We Earn Revenue

CompassSure earns affiliate commission when you click through to a provider from our website. This commission is paid by the provider and does not affect the price you pay for your insurance. We are committed to being transparent about this relationship.

Our editorial content is independent. Commission arrangements do not influence our guides, articles, or the information we provide about travel insurance.

6. Data & Privacy

CompassSure does not collect personal, financial, or health data. We do not have user accounts, forms that collect personal information, or payment processing.

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site (pages visited, traffic sources, etc.). This involves cookies and anonymised usage data. Full details are in our privacy policy.

When you leave our site and visit a provider, that provider's own privacy policy applies to any data you share with them.

7. Complaints

If you have a complaint about CompassSure's website content or service, please get in touch via our contact form.

If your complaint relates to an insurance policy, quote, or claim, please contact the provider directly. If you are not satisfied with their response, you can refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service at financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

8. Contact Us
